HALL JOINS ELITE GROUP
Wheelchair
tennis superstar David Hall was last night inducted into the
Sport Australia Hall of Fame at the SAHOF annual awards dinner
in Melbourne.
Hall was inducted alongside former AFL greats Alex
Jesaulenko and David Parkin, dual Olympic gold medalist Grant
Hackett, aerial skiing trailblazer Kirstie Marshall, cycling
great Phil Anderson, squash world champion Sarah Fitz-Gerald
and rugby league player, coach and administrator Ken
Arthurson.
All the inductees have achieved and won at the highest level in
their respective sports.
Hall dominated wheelchair tennis across the globe for a decade,
finishing No.1 in singles for six years between 1995 to 2005.
He won every major title at some time during his career,
including gold at the Sydney 2000 Paralympics and silver at the
Atlanta Paralympics.
In 1995 he became the first non-American to win the prestigious
US Open.
Hall amassed nine Australian Opens, eight US Opens
and seven British Opens.
